01 Quick Answer: What Does Google Ads Management Cost?
Quick answer: advertised Google Ads management fees in Australia run from about $750–$800 a month for simple flat-fee offers to several thousand dollars a month for bigger accounts. That fee is on top of your ad budget. The figures come from a small sample of provider pages, not an official price list or a market average.
Setup, landing pages and call tracking can cost extra, so ask every agency for the first-month total and the ongoing monthly total. Use the calculator below before you ask for quotes. For the wider service, see our digital marketing in Sydney page.
- Two bills: ad spend goes to Google, the management fee goes to the agency.
- Published flat fees start around $750–$800 a month. Complex accounts cost several thousand.
- Some agencies charge 10%–20% of your ad spend instead. For example, 15% of $3,000 is $450.
- Sydney WEB team plans are $599, $1,095 and $1,750 a month (ex GST), month-to-month. Your ad budget is paid directly to Google.
- Judge results by enquiries and cost per enquiry, not clicks alone.

02 What Agencies Advertise
The table below summarises a small sample of public provider pages reviewed on 12 October 2026. We haven’t named the providers. Prices and what’s included can change, so confirm the current offer with each one.
| Where it’s from | What it advertises | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Broad agency pricing page | $800–$5,000+ a month. Some use 10%–20% of ad spend. Setup fees are separate. | Fees and extras vary a lot, so ask for the full price. |
| Flat-fee agency page | From $800 + GST a month, month-to-month. | A flat fee is easy to budget for. |
| Sydney agency guide (2026) | Groups fees into lower, mid-range and enterprise bands. | Bigger, more complex accounts cost more. |
| Agency pricing guide (2026) | About $800–$2,500 a month for small to medium businesses, higher for complex accounts. | Ranges differ, so treat them as rough guides. |
These are the providers’ own claims, not audited data. They don’t prove what every agency charges. What they do show is how much prices, and what’s included, can differ. That’s why it pays to compare the work and not just the price.

03 Work Out Your Budget
Most business owners want to know one thing: will this pay for itself? Use the calculator to test it. Change one number at a time and watch what happens to the cost per customer.
Google Ads budget calculator
Answer six simple questions. Not sure of a number? Leave our starting guess and change it later.
What this could look like each month
This is a planning tool, not a forecast or a guarantee. It assumes your click cost and results stay the same every month. It leaves out GST, your time, repeat sales and other business costs. Fractions appear because the numbers are averages. A negative profit means the month costs more than the customers bring in.
How the calculator works?
- Clicks = ad spend ÷ cost per click
- Enquiries = clicks × the share of clicks that contact you
- New customers = enquiries × the share of enquiries you win
- Total monthly cost = ad spend + agency fee
- Cost per enquiry = total monthly cost ÷ enquiries
- Cost per customer = total monthly cost ÷ new customers
- Customers needed to break even = total monthly cost ÷ profit from one new customer
- Profit left after all costs = (new customers × profit from one new customer) − total monthly cost
If the profit left is above zero, the month pays for itself. If it’s below zero, the month costs more than it brings in. Results are rounded for display and are only as realistic as the numbers you enter.
The results are estimates based on the numbers you type in. Real results depend on competition, your website, how fast you follow up enquiries and what customers are worth to you.
04 Worked Example: One Simple Month
Imagine a local service business that spends $3,000 a month on ads and pays the Standard plan fee. The table follows the money from the first click to the final result.
| Step | Number | In plain English |
|---|---|---|
| You pay Google | $3,000 | Your ad budget for the month. |
| You pay the agency | $1,095 | Standard plan, ex GST. |
| Total cost | $4,095 | What the month costs you. |
| Clicks on your ads | 750 | $3,000 at $4 a click. |
| Enquiries | About 38 | 5 of every 100 clicks. |
| New customers | About 3.8 | 10 of every 100 enquiries. |
| Profit from those customers | About $3,750 | 3.8 customers at $1,000 profit each. |
| Result for the month | About $345 short | $3,750 profit minus $4,095 cost. |
In this example the month doesn’t quite pay for itself. That doesn’t mean ads don’t work. It shows how much depends on what happens after the click: how many people contact you, how many you win and what each customer is worth.
Here’s what happens if one thing improves:
| What changes | New customers | Result for the month |
|---|---|---|
| The starting example | About 3.8 | About $345 short |
| Your website turns 7 of every 100 clicks into enquiries, not 5 | About 5.3 | About $1,155 ahead |
| Each new customer is worth $1,500 profit, not $1,000 | About 3.8 | About $1,530 ahead |
Change the numbers in the calculator above to test your own business. Small improvements to your website or your enquiry follow-up can matter as much as the management fee.
05 How Agencies Charge
A flat monthly fee. You pay the same amount each month. It’s easy to budget for, but check what it covers: how many campaigns, how often changes are made, and whether reporting and tracking are included.
A percentage of your ad spend. The fee is a share of what you spend on ads. For example, 15% of $3,000 is $450 and 15% of $10,000 is $1,500. That’s just the maths, not a standard rate. Ask about minimum fees and what extra work you get as the budget grows.
Setup fee or a mix. Some agencies charge a one-off setup fee, combine a flat fee with a percentage, or quote landing pages and call tracking separately. Ask for the first-month total and the ongoing monthly total in writing.
| Cost item | Ask this |
|---|---|
| Setup | Is the account audit, build and tracking included, or charged once? |
| Ad spend | Do I pay Google directly? |
| Management | What work is done each month, and how often? |
| Extras | Are landing pages, call tracking or ad design billed separately? |
| Cancelling | Is there a minimum term or notice period? |
06 Set a Sensible Starting Budget
- List the services you want to advertise and the suburbs you want to reach.
- Check how much people search for those services and what clicks cost, using Keyword Planner.
- Try the calculator with cautious, middle and hopeful numbers, not just one.
- Decide what counts as an enquiry (a call, a form, a message) and what counts as a good one.
- Pick a test budget you can keep running for a few months while data builds up.
Sydney is a big market, so more businesses may bid on the same searches. Check the click cost for your own services and suburbs, then compare it with what a new customer is worth.
Your website matters too. Our website cost guide explains what a page that turns visitors into enquiries usually needs, and our SEO cost guide compares paid ads with organic search.

07 What a Good Monthly Report Shows
This is an example of what a useful report covers. It’s a general checklist, not a Sydney WEB team client report, and it doesn’t claim real results.
| Report item | What a good report tells you |
|---|---|
| Ad spend | Shows what was spent against the approved budget. |
| Tracking | Confirms calls and forms are recorded, and says if something needs fixing. |
| Search terms | Lists the words people typed, and which unwanted ones were blocked. |
| Enquiry quality | Separates good enquiries from time-wasters, with your help. |
| Landing page | Flags problems, such as a contact form that’s hard to use on a phone. |
| Next month | Lists what will be done next and why. |
A good report separates facts from guesses, explains any changes and lists next steps. Reading Google’s guide to conversion tracking shows why tracking matters.
08 Compare the Work, Not Just the Price
Ask every agency the same eight questions. Give an agency 1 point for each answer that’s written in the quote or proposal. Give 0 if it’s missing, vague or only said out loud. Then compare the totals next to the prices.
| Work to compare | Ask this | Agency A | Agency B | Agency C |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Setup | Is account setup and tracking included in the price? | ☐ | ☐ | ☐ |
| 2. Ads | Who writes and tests the ads? | ☐ | ☐ | ☐ |
| 3. Monthly work | What do you do each month, and how often? | ☐ | ☐ | ☐ |
| 4. Wasted clicks | Do you block searches that aren’t relevant? | ☐ | ☐ | ☐ |
| 5. Tracking | Will you test that calls and forms are recorded? | ☐ | ☐ | ☐ |
| 6. Reporting | Do I get a plain-English report on enquiries, not just clicks? | ☐ | ☐ | ☐ |
| 7. Ownership | Is the Google Ads account in my name? | ☐ | ☐ | ☐ |
| 8. Leaving | Can I cancel, and what happens to my account? | ☐ | ☐ | ☐ |
| Total | Add up the ticks | ___ / 8 | ___ / 8 | ___ / 8 |

A quick example. Agency A charges $600 a month and Agency B charges $1,095. The numbers below are made up to show the idea.
| What’s written in the quote | Agency A: $600/month | Agency B: $1,095/month |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Setup and tracking included | ✘ Not mentioned | ✔ Included |
| 2. Who writes the ads | ✔ Agency writes them | ✔ Agency writes and tests them |
| 3. Monthly work | ✘ “Optimisation” only | ✔ Fortnightly changes listed |
| 4. Wasted clicks | ✘ Not mentioned | ✔ Searches reviewed each month |
| 5. Tracking tested | ✘ Not mentioned | ✔ Tested before launch |
| 6. Plain-English report | ✘ Not mentioned | ✔ Monthly report and call |
| 7. Account in your name | ✘ Not mentioned | ✔ Yes |
| 8. Cancel anytime | ✔ Month-to-month | ✔ Month-to-month |
| Score | 2 / 8 | 8 / 8 |
Agency A looks cheaper, but its quote lists only 2 of the 8 items. Before you choose it, ask what the missing six would cost, or whether they’re done at all. Agency B costs more but spells out the work. The price difference may be paying for tasks the cheaper quote leaves out.
A high score doesn’t promise results. It shows the work is clear and in writing. If two agencies score the same, let communication and trust decide. Our guide to choosing a web design agency has a longer checklist that works for any agency.
09 What Happens in the First Month
- Goals. You and the agency agree the services, areas, customers and what counts as a good enquiry.
- Review. They check the account, your website and what’s being measured, and note any limits.
- Tracking. They set up and test call and form tracking. If something can’t be measured yet, they tell you how it will be fixed.
- Campaign work. They do the tasks in your plan and record important changes. Anything extra is quoted separately.
- Report and next steps. You get a summary of what was done, what the data shows and what’s next.
Ads can start getting clicks quickly, but it takes time to judge results fairly. It depends on tracking, search volume and how long customers take to decide. Nobody should promise a set number of leads or a set return.

10 Month-to-Month Management: Check the Terms
- Is there a minimum contract period?
- How much notice do you need to give to cancel?
- Are there setup, handover or cancellation charges?
- Who owns the Google Ads account and its data?
- Who pays Google for the ad spend?
- What happens to your campaigns and tracking if you leave?
Sydney WEB team’s plans are month-to-month with no minimum commitment. The final agreement should still spell out the cancellation steps, what’s included and anything that isn’t.
11 Google Ads Management Plans from Sydney WEB team
Our plans use a flat monthly management fee. Your ad budget is separate and paid directly to Google. The right plan depends on how many campaigns you need and how complex they are, not only on how much you spend.

12 Google Ads Management Cost FAQs
How much does Google Ads management cost in Australia?
Published prices vary by agency and by what’s included. The examples in this guide run from about $750–$800 a month for some flat-fee offers to several thousand dollars for complex accounts. Treat them as examples, not a market average.
Is the management fee included in my ad budget?
Usually not. The ad budget goes to Google and the management fee goes to the agency. Confirm who bills each amount and whether setup or extras cost more.
Is a flat fee better than a percentage of ad spend?
A flat fee stays the same each month. A percentage rises and falls with your ad spend. Neither guarantees better results, so compare the work included.
Can I cancel without a lock-in contract?
Some agencies offer month-to-month terms. Check the written notice period, any setup or handover charges and what happens to your account when you leave.
What’s the difference between an enquiry and a good lead?
An enquiry is any call, form or message the tracking records. A good lead is one that fits what you sell and could become a customer. They’re not always the same.
Can an agency guarantee leads or sales?
Be careful with guarantees that don’t say how results are measured. Results depend on demand, competition, budget, your website, your offer and how quickly you follow up.
How do I know if Google Ads is worth it for my business?
Compare your total monthly cost with the profit from the customers it brings in. Include the management fee and allow for tracking limits. The calculator above gives a simple starting point.
